Production DBA role will primarily include to Production and UAT Database Support, Integrated Project release support and Infrastructure projects delivery. Our DBA team has end-to-end expertise with the DBMS engine and related technologies along with significant knowledge of the application
Our Oracle Prod DBA Support will include:
- Installing and upgrading the Oracle server and related Oracle tools.
- Insuring the Company/Client is in compliance with the Oracle license agreement.
- Creating primary database storage structures (tablespaces), once application developers have designed/purchased an approved application.
- Allocating system storage and planning for future storage requirements for the database systems.
- Monitoring and optimizing the performance of the database and offering assistance to developers in optimizing their applications, queries, etc.
- Planning for backup and recovery of the databases. The DBA will not have responsibility for the actual physical backup or physical retention of that information.
- The DBA will act as a liaison between Company/Client and Oracle Corporation for technical support, upgrades, bug fixes, etc. as necessary.
- Design, creation, and structural integrity of all ORACLE database objects in the production environment that are used for official business purposes. This includes tables, views, indexes, sequences, etc. from approved information given by application developers or vendors of purchased systems.
- Assistance, but is not responsible for the design and creation of ORACLE database objects created by other ORACLE users. Any ORACLE database object created in production by an ORACLE user [other than the DBA], is considered non-official and will not be supported by the DBA.
- Responsible for the batch loading of data into official production ORACLE tables from approved data files, etc. given by development team. The DBA will ensure that the data loaded into ORACLE tables is as accurate as the data source. The DBA is not responsible for the validity of data loaded into ORACLE tables by any manual data entry process.
- Provide information and assistance in accessing ORACLE database objects by other applications and tools such as Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, etc. The DBA will not be responsible for the validity of the results from these applications.
Operation/Application DBA Support service will primarily include Production and Non-Production Database Support, Integrated Project release support and Infrastructure projects delivery. This DBA team has end-to-end expertise with the DBMS engine and related technologies along with significant knowledge of the application and underlying business logic.
Our Ops/App DBA will include:
- Maintain tools, standards and procedures to monitor/support the DBMS as per COMPANY/CLIENT guidelines

- Maintain standard installation process as per COMPANY/CLIENT guidelines.
- Maintain standard backup and recovery strategy as per COMPANY/CLIENT guidelines and verify on a daily basis that database backups have completed successfully for all Operation DBA managed databases (Where Production DBA is not responsible for DB Backup).
- Manage software database license process.
- Develop tools to support and automate the DBMS administration.
- Install/upgrade/patch the DBMS software on the database server.
- Install/upgrade/patch the DBMS Tools and backup-recovery software.
- Monitor/Mange/Schedule the DBMS jobs/processes.
- Manage the database backup and restore process .
- Ensures database security.
- Maintains the DBMS configuration parameters.
- Responds to disk utilization issues.
- Coordinates with the Application / Dev on planned database downtimes for Non Prod database.
- Grants privileged database access to Dev/Test Team as per requests, under the access scope.
- Tune and configure the database engine.
- Reorganize the database / Handling fragmentation.
- DB User Management and security management of application objects.
- Primary point of contact for all database issues where application is supported by Operation DBA.
- Help preserve logical database integrity by enforcing change management process.
- Provide first line of support for developers and application users by providing technical reviews for implementation of codes in all environments.
- Coordinate with Business and Production DBA(In case Production Managed Database) regarding database/app planned downtime during releases and other maintenance efforts (Tuning/Reorg).
- Database cloning and refreshes as and when needed to support release activities.
- Manage appropriate vendor relationships and technical action reports to resolve bugs/issues with DBMS software.
- Develop/maintain/participate disaster recovery plans.
- Provide inputs to support capacity planning.
- Provide outage resolution support and perform analysis to resolve recurring database issues.
- Creation and/or design of application objects/schemas. This includes tables, indexes, procedures, SQL and PL/SQL Code.
- Design and validation of logical data model.
- If the application has a third party software package or interface, then liasoning with the vendor company.
- Owning the data and maintenance procedures for application objects.
- Owns and tunes the application objects proactively unless reported.
- Install and maintain client software (Ex. Oracle Client / Toad / SQL etc).
